As an xAPI conformant LRS, Watershed can receive data from any xAPI conformant Activity Provider. Many Watershed reports are flexible and you can configure Watershed to display useful visualizations and metrics from almost any xAPI data set. To help you get the most out of your data, we’re working with a number of product vendors to ensure that the data they send is optimized to produce the best possible results in Watershed.
gomo is a collaborative, cloud-based responsive eLearning authoring tool enabling users to create multi-device learning. Completions, results, slide views and question responses are all tracked via xAPI.
- User Types
- Any user with access to the report builder (Global Admins, Area Admins, and some Users) can create reports looking at gomo data. Only Global Admins can set up the connection.
- Available on paid plans (Analyst, CLO, and Enterprise).
- Anybody can use this feature.
Building gomo courses
When creating your gomo courses, be sure to give courses, topics, slides and assets clear names so that you will know what they are when in comes to reporting. In particular, ensure that you populate the alt text for images when using graphical question types.
Connecting gomo to Watershed
gomo courses can be published in a number of different ways, three of which support xAPI tracking:
- As an xAPI package
- Via gomo hosting
- As a stand alone course
For gomo hosting, select gomo hosting as as Publish destination. Then speak with your gomo Account Manager to enable and configure the xAPI connection between your gomo hosting account and Watershed. They will need to know your Watershed endpoint, key and secret. You should create a new key and secret for use with gomo.
For an an xAPI package, select SCORM / xAPI ZIP File (DOWNLOAD) as the Publish destination, then select Track via xAPI (undefined endpoint). In this mode, the LRS details will be passed to the gomo course from the platform launching that package. Details of how to configure that launching platform to work with Watershed will vary from platform to platform.
Publishing as a stand alone course uses the Track via xAPI (defined endpoint) option. Both publishing as a stand alone course and publishing for gomo hosting with a connection out to Watershed embed the LRS credentials into the package. For data security reasons, Watershed does not recommended these options.
Please note: If you do use one of the defined endpoint options, tracking to Watershed will only work if you access the content via HTTPS. For gomo hosting, this means you need to ensure your learners access the course via
https://your-sub-domain.gomocentral.com and not
gomo xAPI data
gomo data uses the following xAPI verbs and activity types:
Activity type id
Statements about answered questions include data about available options, the response given, success, and time taken.
gomo data works best with Watershed's Activity report which provides an detailed overview of individual courses including detailed information about question responses. To configure, simply select the Activity report type and filter by the course or assessment you want to look at.
